Rotax critical mass

I've been wanting to get more Rotax racing here for some time.  It's difficult to get any new class going because nobody wants to be the first to jump in without knowing that others will be there to race against.  I want to push all the Rotax classes up to 'critical mass'.

So, we'll give away a free 2011 season entry pass to anyone who purchases a new Rotax from us.  That's worth over $500, if you're counting...  I figure that should help the class build, and give anyone on the fence a little more reason to jump in.  If you'd like to do it and race this season still, let me know - we'll work something out.

Any Rotax class is eligible.  MicroMax, MiniMax, Junior, Sr, Masters - pick the one that fits you.

Why go Rotax?  It's more reliable, with fewer rebuilds than yamaha or KPV engines.  Thank the chrome cylinder, 14k rev limit, and forgiving carb for that.  Call me or talk to me when you're out here for more info.

I'm all in for 2011

I just picked up my Rotax rig and the thing is sweet. The coolest thing is that the motor/cooling system/ignition/everything can be pulled out in 2 minutes easily and the thing is bullet proof. Rotax is a major engine manufacturer worldwide with clients like Aprillia and Bombardier.

I will miss my Spec class buddies but I bet alot will move up to Rotax. I'm going to start testing Sunday and can't wait to drive it. If anybody wants a good Spec rig it's for sale at Jet Karting.

Rotax

Looks like the best way to move up and onward from the spec class. Spec class has been great, lots of fun and it got my 2 boys driving!!! Spec is for sale, looking for good Rotax turn key deal.

Rotax Jr

I have a Jr. driver with a Rotax engine ready to go.

Rotax Sr

I'm definitely considering this for next year. .... Would be great to get at least 5-6 karts at each race. The 50 hr sealed engine is a big consideration. It give reasonable reliability and allows me to focus on the driving aspect instead of trying to figure out the latest trick engine set up.

Surely we can get at least 5 or 6 karts!!!!

Rotax Sr

I don't think 5-6 Sr's will be a problem.  There are 2-3 now, and Adam Taylor is looking to trade the Leopard for one too.  I know of 2-3 Spec Racers that are thinking that Rotax Sr is the way to go next season.

With the free entry fee's, this is a easy class for all the new racers that come through here to decide on.  I'm tired of seeing all the new faces pass on karting because of the high maintenance costs and headaches.  Manye existing Yamaha and HPV drivers will continue with those engines, and that's cool.  We just need a better choice for those that would like it.

I heard from a racer about marketing, but no contact info to continue the conversation.

We should talk.

Cost

What kind of cost for a Sr or Master? I think it comes down to the matter of costs... with so many Yamaha's and HPV's out there for sale used, someone can jump into a kart for a little over 2k.

Re: Cost

Yamaha or HPV can be purchased new for roughly $2500.  Rotax new is $3295 for Jr, or $3495 for Sr.  The real difference is that Sr. Rotax needs a rebuild once every 50 hours at $750 average.

The HPV or Yam will have one top and a full rebuild recommended every 10 hours.  That is over $2000 per year for most racers.

Either engine can be found used for a lot less than new cost.  Check your local shop, or the classifieds on ekartingnews.com.  I've seen rotax engines as low as $1000, similar to Yamaha and HPV's.

cost?

3200 is engine only?

rotax pricing

Hmm, seems my pricing was a year or two old in the computer.

Sr engines are $3495.00

Jr engines are $3295.00

They come with everything you need except engine mount and pipe brackets.  The mount is the same as HPV or Leopard.  Airbox, carb, engine, radiator, water hoses, clutch, pipe, battery, and wiring harness are all included.

go rotax!

I race every weekend with my rotax in the tag class #18. Id be willing to race the rotax class if we could get enough people. I know michael weimer would too.
