Practice

Chicago Auto Show

Our booth at the Auto Show is going well.  The effort is paying off with LOTS of new interest in the property and karting in general.  Kris and I are very happy we've done this, and we still have the second weekend to go.

More info on the Friday Night Leagues and the our Adrenaline Addict Car Show will be coming after the weekend.

Racers build the rules

There seems to be a lot of talk.  This isn’t unusual in winter, as karters balance wanting to go faster with their budget.  I thought I would share a little about how we go about adding classes – what works and what doesn’t.

Kris built a Facebook page, and we'd dig it if you'd check it out.  Click the link, or search on Facebook for JET Karting.

[update] Just found out how to change the url for the page to www.facebook.com/jetkarting

Season Passes

As part of the planning for the coming season, we revised the season pass pricing.  Some went up a little, some not at all.  The new pricing will go into effect January 1, however if you buy in December we'll sell them for the '09 prices. Passes make a pretty good Christmas gift!

As a reminder, if you won a discounted season pass certificatte at the Banquet, you need to use it before March 15.

Scribner Engine Shipping Crate

Like most racers, when shipping an engine to a buider I have used cardboard boxes.  There are a lot of ways to make a box better too; box in a box, bubble wrap, packing peanuts, etc.  But I've still worried that everything would come back without damage.

Then I saw the Engine Crate from Scribner Plastic.  Instead of packing around the engine, you bolt it in.  I like it.

No Phones...

Our phone lines are down, and have been all weekend.  Anyone who calls gets a busy signal.  We're still here though.  Check the hours on the right, or email us with questions.

Track repair update

The repair we did a week ago in turn 4 is looking good, and we've moved the barriers back.  With the higher temps expected this week, we don't want to risk pulling the asphalt up with the corner g's, so it isn't going to be fully open this week either.  The apex is moved outside by about 2 feet.  Unless something unforeseen comes up, we should have the corner with no restrictions for the Pro Race this weekend.

Track Closed Monday - Repairing Turn 4

We have talked about fixing turn 4 last fall, and said we'd fix it when the schedule worked with the asphalt company.  It works this Monday, June 29.  This means the track will be closed all day Monday, June 29.

Also, turn 4 will be narrowed up for the rest of the week to keep karts from running on the inside few feet.  We will let you know how long this will last, but we expect it to be a week.  You'll still be able to get on-track for practice, but turn 4 will obviously be slow.
